Pathway
to Innovate

Innovation is a recognised driver of competitiveness, resilience, and growth within SMEs, however, in Ireland, innovation in small to medium sized enterprises (SME) remains a challeng. It is widely reported that Irish SMEs are underperforming in RD&I compared to their EU counterparts of comparable economies. Key challenges include skills gaps, limited resources and competition from larger firms.
Addressing these gaps is essential for SMEs to adopt new technologies, meet market demands, scale their business and enhance competitiveness.
Pathway to Innovate focuses on embedding innovation and entrepreneurship practices in SMEs across Ireland through targeted upskilling and regional clinics. It provides SMEs with practical tools, actionable insights, and strategies to drive measurable success. From funding, training, mentoring, and more, there is a whole host of supports available to help regional SMEs innovate. The challenge is identifying which resources are right for your business.

Green Grid
Europe

The transition to a Net0 economy requires widespread adoption of cleantech solutions and enhanced grid resilience, yet many SMEs face barriers to scaling their innovations and integrating them into energy-intensive industries. Industrial SMEs, which are major energy consumers, often lack the expertise and resources to optimize their energy use, while cleantech SMEs struggle with market access, financing, and industry collaboration opportunities. Additionally, regulatory and market barriers further slow down the deployment of clean energy technologies.
The Green Grid Eurocluster addresses these challenges by empowering cleantech SMEs, enhancing energy system resilience through renewables, and driving the Net0 transition. The project bridges the gap between industrial SMEs seeking to implement energy-efficient solutions and cleantech SMEs developing innovative Net0 technologies, ensuring that both groups can thrive in the renewable energy and digital economy sectors. Green Grid helps cleantech SMEs scale their solutions, integrate into industrial systems, and expand internationally. By leveraging European and international networks such as EEN & ECCP, Green Grid supports cross-border collaboration, enhances EU strategic autonomy, and positions European SMEs as key players in the global clean energy transition.
